Very steep site. No signage at present! From Ambleside the turn-off is the first left hand turn
outside Ambleside. From the South, the turn-off is on the right, just past the roadside sign
proclaiming “AMBLESIDE”. Go up the track as far as possible. There is space for about eight cars
to park. Infestation of Yushania anceps (?) at top of site.

Holker Hall & Gardens are approximately 5 miles south of the A590, the main road running from
Kendal to Barrow-in-Furness.

The gardens surrounding Holker Hall cover 24 acres of woodland and formal garden areas. They
are highly acclaimed and were winners of a 2004 Cumbria In Bloom award. Rhododendrons might
be still in bloom. Land art feature “Pagan Grove”, the peaceful Sunken Garden, and labyrinth.
